A half day in Dubai UAE
On August 2 2018 I arrived in Dubai flying on Emerites from Bangkok. Flight was 6 hours and I chose to have a long 10 hour layover. It was to have enough time to checkout Dubai and it’s tallest building in the world the burj khalifa.
Leaving my small luggage at the airport was an ordeal in itself. The storage only wanted to charge me 80 local currency by credit card but I had forgotten my visa pass code. Eventually I was able to pay by cash.
Dubai is not a cheap place to visit. At least for someone just passing through the airport and to the mall of dubai. I had some Tim Hortons and thought it was pricey.
Temperatures were extremely hot and if I was livinng here I would just stay indoors all the time.
The mall of Dubai was great. Massive and had a free aquarium with quite a selection of sea creatures.
The light rail linking airport to the burj khalifa was efficient and from the station to the mall was all linked by a long covered walk way.
Terminal 3 at the dubai airport was great. Since it is only used by emerites they were giving out free premium ice cream to all travellers.
At that airport all passengers come from asia and from europe. Meet there as a transit point and then continue to their separate destinations. Dubai is a massive meeting point and filtering point for onwards flights.
